Article Processing
Once a manuscript is accepted for publication in the International Journal of Nutrition, Dietetics & Health (IJNDH), it enters the production phase. This page outlines the article processing workflow, from acceptance to online publication.
Production Workflow
1. Acceptance Notification
Upon acceptance, the corresponding author receives an official acceptance letter via email. This letter includes:
- Manuscript ID and title
- Assigned volume and issue (if applicable)
- Copyright agreement requirements
- Instructions for the next steps
2. Copyright Agreement
Authors must complete and sign a copyright agreement before publication. This agreement specifies:
- Copyright ownership (typically retained by authors or transferred to the journal)
- Licensing terms (usually Creative Commons licenses for open access)
- Author rights and permissions
- Third-party use permissions
The agreement is completed electronically through our submission system.
3. Article Processing Charges
As an open-access journal, IJNDH charges an Article Processing Charge (APC) to cover publication costs. The APC includes:
- Peer review management
- Professional copyediting and proofreading
- Typesetting and formatting
- Online hosting and archiving
- Indexing in major databases
- DOI assignment
Payment instructions are provided upon acceptance. Authors from low-income countries may be eligible for fee waivers or discounts.
4. Copyediting
Professional copyeditors review the manuscript for:
- Grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- Consistency in style and terminology
- Clarity and readability
- Formatting according to journal style
- Reference accuracy and formatting
Authors receive the edited manuscript for review and approval. Any changes should be clearly marked and returned within the specified timeframe.
5. Proofreading
Once copyediting is complete, page proofs are generated and sent to the corresponding author. Authors should:
- Carefully review the entire document
- Check all tables, figures, and equations
- Verify author names and affiliations
- Confirm reference accuracy
- Mark any corrections clearly
Proof corrections should be returned within 48 hours. Only essential changes are permitted at this stage.
6. Final Approval
After proof corrections are incorporated, the final version is sent to the author for final approval. Once approved, the article is scheduled for publication.
7. Online Publication
Accepted articles are published online as soon as they are ready, prior to assignment to a specific issue. This ensures rapid dissemination of research. The article receives:
- A unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI)
- Pagination (if assigned to an issue)
- Full citation details
- Metadata for indexing
8. Issue Publication
Articles are compiled into issues according to the journal's publication schedule (quarterly). Each issue includes:
- Table of contents
- Editorial (if applicable)
- All articles assigned to that issue
- Complete issue metadata
